Before designing the Digi pack I have undertaken some additional research to help with our own design style. This is a design publication called "Little White Lies" which gives monthly information about artistic films and anything else film related. I really like this graphic style and is something we would like to incorporate into the CD case as well as the poster. One thing I noticed in the design of the publication was the bright colours and impacting typography that was used. This really helps the audience engage with the design and would ultimately increase the chance of them listening and purchasing the music. The magazine also has very few adverts used throughout it as well as very high quality, artsy photographs which have been used to great effect. We can imagine that this magazine costs much more than typical magazines and would most likely have been printed using high quality printing presses such as lithographic or Rotogravure.
Whats more, instead of using standard pictures it uses hand drawings. The company has obviously hired a number of artists to make transcriptions from photographs of famous celebrities. This combined with interesting geometric shapes and patterns make the overall aesthetic bright and energetic making the entire page look interesting and busy. Comparing this to another film magazine called "Empire" we can clearly see the difference between the different graphic styles. This is very much more photographically based instead of mainly artwork based images or graphics.
Empire magazine - A style that works for the mainstream films and audiences who are more concerned by the latest film news as opposed to the actual design and style of the magazine. These types of publications are released more frequently than the likes of "Little white lies" simply because it takes much less time to compose and design the magazine using images and basic typography. There has been no clear thought as to what images could be used to make an artful impact, instead images are chosen based on vibrancy and scene which makes it stand out from other magazines.
Each page is completely different and utilizes a range of colours and textures to help compose each scene. Another thing I noticed was how the designer had thought about how the scene would have an impact on the viewer in terms of both pages working together. So for example, in the image below we see the camera projector which is shining light on the woman on the opposite page. This only adds to the continuity of the design but this ultimately makes it more professional and striking as each double page is another piece

As we are in the process of both completing filming and ancillary tasks, we have had to produce some rough drafts of both the ancillary tasks. These rough drafts will be done in significant stages. Here are some of the brainstormed ideas that we have composed:

1. Dates/times/locations of filming
Date 1:
Saturday 26th - Thetford forest, Norwich (9am to 6:00) - Couple montage scenes
Sunday 27th - South wold (10:00 to 6:00) - Couple montage scenes
Saturday 3rd- Filming the room scene
Sunday 4th- Filming the room scene
2. How have you organised this?
We have set up a group messenger between all the members in the group. This has easily allowed us to directly message each other with arrangements regarding the filming and planning of the music video. One of the main advantages to this service is that it is quick and immediate and is a platform that everyone has access to. If any of us have a problem we can communicate this to everyone in seconds which been greatly beneficial in helping us organise the scenes. Through our research and development of the location we all took turns in suggesting possible locations. After some time and deliberation we came to the idea of using south wold for the beach scene. We liked this location because we thought it would be ideal to shoot scenes of the couple along the beach and on the pier/arcade. We have decided to use Norwich and Thetford forest which we also thought were suitable locations. Upon these decisions and in class time we also researched opening times for Thetford forest and worked out travel expenses e.g. car fuel and parking tickets.
3. Has it proved easy/difficult to organise?
As mentioned above through using social media and online platforms such as Facebook Messenger the organisation of the filming, locations, timings have been made considerably easy. Although, the main issue was arranging the timings for our actors and everyone to film at a suitable date. We had wanted to film much earlier but one our actors were unable to meet the date so we have consequently pushed the date back to commence the filming from the 26th and to finish on the 4th. Although this is frustrating I think it is better to wait and use quality people with acting experience as this is ultimately what will make the narrative more believable and therefore more professional.

List of physical props/ costume/ accessories needed whilst filming:
Whilst filming we will make use of a range of props and costumes to help create a more believable impression and contribute to the mise en scene of each shot. This is important and will ultimately create a more professional outcome.
Things needed:
- a room
- a single mattress
- bed
- photos of couple together
- guitar
- guitar amp
- posters
Equipment:
- DSLR filming camera - we will use this camera because it can film in a high quality (1080p) as opposed to some of the hand held cameras that we have used previously in our work.
- Tripod- We will use the tripod for almost every shot to ensure the stability of the camera. This is essential as it will help us create smoother pans. The tripod also includes a spirit level so we can keep the angle of the camera completely flat as we film.
- Secondary DSLR camera- This camera will be used for taking the photographs of each scene to help us film and for the blog. We also will bring it just in case our primary filming camera stops working for some reason.
- Mic- This will be used for recording the audio of the footage, getting our actors to speak into the mic as Diegetic sound.
- 50mm lens - This will help us achieve a cinematic look as will hopefully be able to use a pull focus technique as well as background blur.
We will be travelling by car to each location. This will be far easier than using public transport as we will have to carry all of this equipment and it will be much cheaper. We may even use the car to help us film and create different shots - this would provide a much smoother and steady footage than simply holding it by hand.

The coursework brief that we are going to complete is a music video for a song of our choice. We have chose this idea because it will be able to link a linear narrative of a story together. Also from the completion of our preliminary tasks, we feel that there would be more various ideas and concepts to elaborate on with a music video rather than just a short film. Also, we all share a similar interests in music to each other.
The group will consist of Ollie, Drew, Matt and Will. We have a larger group than last years A/S tasks, this is because the demand of coursework for this years task will be much larger, as the music video will have to probably consist of four minutes rather than two minutes. Overall, we feel that the group that we have assembled can work together sensibly, take many responsibilities together but also enjoy ourselves to create a top music video. We all created a very high standard of coursework videos last year, working efficiently together. With all of these, It once again will allow us to create a high standard music video.
So far, we have had many initial ideas, however as we progress these ideas will peter out and eventually we will come up with the best idea we can possibly get.

Justification for casting: we decided that we where going to use harry for this role because he has experience acting having doe drama at GCSE as well as being in a band performing on stage he has no problem being in front of camera and is quite natural and calm. We also decided to go with sherry because he is regularly available which is useful because of the large number of locations that we have as well as the need to film over many days.

Justification for casting: we decided to use Meghan as she has acted in plays and performed since she was very young, and is currently taking A-level Drama.We also decided to use Meghan because she looks quite innocent which is important for this role as you aren't supposed to sympathise with our male role. As with harry Meghan is regularly available for filming which is useful for the amount we will need to .
Costume
Boy - for the make role in the memories we are going to have him dressed very clean and proper as someone would if they where on a date this means that we are going to have shirts jeans and smart shoes for our character, we are going to source these from ourselves using personal items that we own as well as some that our actor owner, this is so that they don't look out of place on Harry and fit in with his style so the film looks more natural. However in the main bit of the filming in the room we are going to have him dressed in a very sloppy fashion in tracks dirty t shirts to reinforce the idea of the drugs and nit caring anymore losing his appearance that he once had, hopefully the two costume types should contrast each other and add to the narrative.
Girl - For our female character we are going to have her looking very effeminate and lady like in the begging to represent the start of their relationship and towards the end of the memories we are going to have her more casual so jeans t shirts to show they are getting comfortable with each other. we are going to get these from friends but mainly from Meghan herself so she can make them fit in with her and to make sure she's comfortable in what she's wearing.

This poster overall has utilized the upbeat nature of the song to produce a bubbly music poster. Unlike some other posters, it has used as varied mixture of bright, enticing colours alongside the use of dominating objects on the poster. With this poster we can also get in implication into the genre of the song. From this, the poster seems quite girly and will have an audience aimed mainly towards girls and teenagers. Because of this, the bustling nature of the poster with the use of positive colours will attract this band of target audience. However to some, it may be seen as an eyesore with the mixture of colours.
Compared to the previous poster, the one above uses a dominated range of a plain dark background with some mild extremely bright colours specifically centred in the middle of the album cover. In addition, it has an even more simplistic nature throughout with only three main concepts to the cover: The Band name, the album name and facial features of the bands members. This would thus attract a different set of target audience to a much more matured, male focused audience where the song may have more meaning to it. Via this and the popularity of the well known band, they are more likely to buy the album as it simply gets to the point in it.
Another which differs from these in simplicity and uniqueness is the one above. This music poster strips to the basics- even without any parts of the band or narrative on it. Via this, it aims to give the band a sense of unpredictability to the bands nature, yet also a sense of meaning to a seemingly boring squiggly lines and the black and white colours. This once entices you to buy the album due to just the band name and opinions you have got from. The main criticism of this album poster is that it may be too simplistic. As we see from the others above, they utilise simplicity into their own ways to attract audiences, for example, by the use of bright colours or a portrait of the band. Due to this posters basic nature, it may not strike the hunger of the target audiences to buy the album, purely because it is not seen as aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Initial thoughts on Ancillary task 2:
Overall, I feel that the second analysed music poster would suit our music task the best- but instead of using the band use a part of the linear narrative. From the given basics, we need to produce a meaning on the poster that would strike and attract the target audiences while keeping the same simplicity throughout. This will blend the attractiveness of the poster without becoming too much to look at- either by too much information or too many contrasting colours.
How will your ancillary 1 and 2 have common themes?
It needs to be extremely similar to the album cover so that it can produce a marketing link. They both need to fit the emotional attachment (as said above) so that there are no contradictions, thus the audience not becoming confused. If they were also both similar- or in fact the same- then it will produce a more professional aspect that we aim to have, thus moving us another step up from just an A2 media piece.

For our music video, we have had to create a script. In this script however, there is no dialogue due to the nature of a music video. We as a result have contained stage directions and dialogue within this script. It is also a rough idea, meaning that we have made it basic so that we can edit and add to the script at a later date when we are more certain of our ideas.
